Bulkheads

 
Bulkheads are push to connect fittings that are typically used to run air lines into a false floor or from the interior of your vehicle to the exterior. The standard SMC bulkheads we offer are great for connecting air line in a straight line. If you need to make a quick 90˚ turn on the other side of the bulkhead, you can thread in a swivel elbow for added options. Drill a hole in the surface you want to pass through, and use the included nuts to affix the union through the hole. PTC connections on either side make plugging and unblugging lines a breeze. These fittings are DOT approved, and the silver finish on them might match your finished trunk setup better than the brass <a target="_blank" href="{{store direct_url=smc-dot-bulkhead.html}}">SMC DOT Bulkheads</a>.</p>

    SMC Bulkheads use metric hole sizes and the bits are hard to find in US hardware stores. Use this perfectly sized metal drill bit for a clean installation of SMC DOT Bulkhead Unions or SMC DOT Bulkhead Female Straights.

    Drill bit sizes:
    • 1/4" bulkhead - 15mm drill bit
    • 3/8" bulkhead - 23mm drill bit
    • 1/2" bulkhead - 26mm drill bit

    The SMC DOT Bulkhead Female Straights are great fittings to use when running air lines into a false floor or from the interior of your vehicle to the exterior. If you need the air line to make a direct 90º turn after the female bulkhead, just use a swivel elbow like the SMC DOT Swivel Elbow. These fittings are DOT approved and feature a metal sleeve which helps align the air line inside of the fitting, providing an improved seal.
